Back to the grind…or not?

Fun

School is back in full swing. Schedules are creeping up. Classes to get to, kids to pick up, soccer matches to get snacked up, meetings, project reports, errands, guitar lessons, and fun. Wait. Fun? What? I can have fun too? When do I have time for that? You shudder at the thought of one more thing on your never-ending list, but simply, we must make the time. Literally, make FUN a part of your schedule and put it on the calendar. Sometimes we forget that life is for living, not just going through the motions. Attending to the daily grind, which after awhile leaves us feeling less than fulfilled, maybe a little depressed and then without noticing, we have completely checked out. A mere shell driving the carpool, pushing the cart, cooking the meal, uploading data, sitting in the all important Monday meeting. We forget so easily how to truly live.

Fun
When we are living life we are having fun. It could be as simple as a Popsicle on the porch swing in the shade of the afternoon, a bike ride, or wait for it, do I dare? Date night. We adults still need to find our fun so that we can be more engaged as a parent, which directly translates to our family. So yes, by all means, schedule some fun in your life. For the kids, for your partner/spouse, and for you! If we make effort towards finding a little fun and happiness in our day everyone feels the effects. We check back in. We begin to cherish our life again because we are happy in it rather than daunted by it. We need to let go of the grind mindset and increase our happiness. So, when is the next opening in your schedule for some fun?
